Practice the ancient skill of tracking. This course gets in to the practices of tracking humans that cannot be read and learned from a book… that cannot be learned in a classroom. Experience in tracking is required, though not necessarily from this school.

Notes

  • Apply signcutting and tracking tactics to large scale scenarios
  • Refine track and sign interpretation including direction of travel, aging, etc.
  • Construct an accurate and descriptive after action report of tracking tasks
  • Present your expertise and evidentiary findings in a court of law

Professionally presented classroom sessions will be followed by the majority of the time spent outside putting the concepts you learn to use. We will have a good time while exploring and practicing methodical signcutting tactics, more night tracking and large scale missing person scenarios. This is not an entry level class, and students should have prior tracking training, though not necessarily from this school. While this course is oriented to search/rescue, military and law enforcement professionals, it is also designed for individuals that want to round out tracking skills.

The class will be a mix of indoor presentations, outdoor scenarios and going to court on Sunday - so bring appropriate clothing (recommended gear list will be sent after registration). Lodging and meals not provided, but local camping areas and hotel information will be provided upon request or registration.

  • Class Time: Course will start at 10am on Friday and end at 4pm on Sunday
  • Required equipment: measuring tape, notebook, flashlights, outdoor clothing, camera (cell phone is fine)
